ABOUT

Scott Figgins

One of Scotland's most dynamic and innovative young traditional musicians, Scott Figgins specialises in highland bagpipes; bellow-blown pipes; guitar; and whistles. With his foundations built in the pipe band and solo piping scene, Scott is a piper who plays at the highest level and uses his wealth of knowledge and experience to perform and teach to the highest standard. He is best known, however; for his rapidly growing career in the folk and traditional music scene.

He records and tours with folk-fusion band ‘Eriska’, with whom he plays highland pipes, border pipes and whistles. In 2018, they released their debut album “At the Wrong Gig” to great acclaim, containing some of Scott’s own compositions, and now tour the length and breadth of the country while writing new music. His duo with Scott Garden, in which he plays guitar, is also in high demand since the release of their debut EP “Horizonto” in 2019. Also appearing on albums such as “Dear Self” by Peter Jay, Scott’s career as a performing and recording artist is rapidly growing and is certainly one to watch.

Scott graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2018, with an Honours’ Degree in Scottish Traditional Music. Through studying here, he made a number of notable performances alongside the likes of Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain, Eddi Reader and the RSNO. Outwith his studies at the Conservatoire, some of Scott’s most notable performances include playing at regular functions for the Royal family, multiple international TV and radio performances, supporting Dougie MacLean and travelling to Switzerland with Finlay MacDonald to perform at the Avenches Tattoo. He was also a semi-finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2020, and became a grade 2 World Pipe Band Champion in 2017.

Scott is a dependable, highly professional musician available for booking as a soloist or for collaborative work.
